Although immunotherapy has improved survival in other aggressive cancers, it is largely ineffective in pancreatic cancer because the tumor creates an environment that weakens immune system cells and prevents them from penetrating the tumor tissue. <\/p>\n<p>The project, led by Dr. Gabriel Rabinovich and funded by FERO Cancer with the sponsorship of Fundaci\u00f3n Gandara, aims to block these mechanisms to restore the activity of immune cells against the tumor. To achieve this, the team will combine two innovative therapeutic strategies. On the one hand, they will block molecules present in the tumor microenvironment that inhibit the action of the immune system.
