In 2004, we received the BMW Initiative Award and took a decisive step by promoting the Breast Cancer Unit at the Vall d&#8217;Hebron University Hospital. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Years later, that momentum culminated in the inauguration of the \u201cEndevant i de cara\u201d Breast Cancer Center, consolidating a leading model of care and research.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Boosting resources for research<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2006, we helped the Vall d\u2019Hebron Institute of Oncology come to fruition, which is today one of the great pillars of oncological research in Europe.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, we have worked to provide hospitals and research centers with state-of-the-art technological resources, fund both young and established talent, and build bridges between disciplines.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creation of the Fero and Dr. Baselga grants<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FERO Grants have become a mark of scientific excellence. Researchers such as Laura Soucek, Manuel Valiente, Alejo Efeyan, Clara Bueno, Arkaitz Carracedo, Jon Zugazagoitia, and Jaume Mora, among many others, have been able to develop innovative projects thanks to FERO&#8217;s support. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2021, we also created the Dr. Baselga Grant in tribute to our founder, reinforcing our commitment to research talent. From solidarity art exhibitions and the renowned Charity Galas to tournaments in various sports&#8230; each event has been a meeting point between science and the public. Various campaigns alongside supportive brands have successfully united fashion and science, beauty and solidarity, sports and perseverance, and gastronomy and research. Companies, foundations, and thousands of anonymous individuals have shown that research is also built through solidarity.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particularly complex times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, research did not stop. We held solidarity dinners from home, launched new projects, and continued to award grants, proving that the commitment to science is stronger than any adversity. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">25 years, real progress<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This anniversary is not just a symbolic figure. It is a reflection of concrete results: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We have technology that allows for much faster and more precise DNA analysis of patients with lymphoma.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have gained a better understanding of how colon cancer originates and evolves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have developed an immunotherapy that will reach patients with a specific type of cancer for the first time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have created a detection kit for melanoma patients that allows us to anticipate whether they will respond to treatment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have generated experimental models that help understand how prostate cancer responds to therapies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have focused on ovarian cancer, one of the deadliest, by promoting several projects and laboratories.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have promoted the first drug capable of blocking MYC, a milestone that for decades was considered unreachable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have ensured that other foundations trust our teams and support pediatric cancer research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each of these achievements represents years of work in laboratories, hospitals, and research centers by more than 1,000 researchers. But beyond the awards, our greatest recognition is seeing how projects progress and how the knowledge generated translates into new opportunities for patients. Today, under the presidency of Silvia Garriga, FERO faces the future with the same ambition as in 2001: to identify talent, drive disruptive ideas, and accelerate the delivery of discoveries to the patient. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reaching 25 years is not a finish line. It is a renewed starting point. Because as long as cancer exists, our mission remains strong.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you to all the people, companies, researchers, and collaborators who have been part of this journey. These 25 years belong to everyone.
