On November 17, we held a new edition of our FERO Charity Gala<\/strong> at the Rosewood Villa Magna Hotel in Madrid, thanks to the support of our patron Kettal\u2014an event that brought together nearly 220 people from the scientific, business, and social spheres.<\/p>\n\n

It was an emotional evening in which we had the honour of awarding \u20ac380,000 to support two research projects and a very special recognition for the scientific community.<\/p>\n\n

The ceremony, hosted by Atresmedia presenter Mercedes Mart\u00edn<\/strong> and presided over by our President Silvia Garriga<\/strong>, allowed us to reaffirm our commitment: to foster scientific talent that can transform the lives of thousands of patients.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

FERO DNA Award: A Tribute to Scientific Leadership<\/h2>\n\n

The night\u2019s big surprise was the presentation of the 2nd FERO DNA Award<\/strong> to Dr. Carlos L\u00f3pez-Ot\u00edn<\/strong>, one of the most influential biomedical researchers in our country.<\/p>\n\n

With this award, we aim to recognise leadership in oncology research and, especially, mentoring<\/strong> that helps develop new generations of scientists and inspires the future of oncology research in Spain to keep moving forward.<\/p>\n\n

4th FERO Fellowship \u2013 Dr. Baselga: \u20ac300,000 to Advance Childhood Cancer<\/h2>\n\n

During the evening, we awarded two of our fellowships. The 4th FERO Fellowship \u2013 Dr. Baselga<\/strong> went to a project by Dr. Jaume Mora<\/strong> \u00b7 Scientific Director of the Pediatric Cancer Center at Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Hospital.<\/p>\n\n

We awarded this fellowship, worth \u20ac300,000 over three years, to Dr. Jaume Mora<\/strong> for his project \u201cExploiting Cell State Vulnerabilities to Target Pediatric Cancers\u201d.<\/p>\n\n

His work seeks to identify specific molecular vulnerabilities in childhood tumours in order to design more effective and less toxic treatments for children with cancer.<\/p>\n\n

31st FERO Fellowship for Young Researchers<\/h2>\n\n

We also awarded the 31st FERO Fellowship for Young Researchers<\/strong>, worth \u20ac80,000 and funded by the ACS Foundation, to a project by Dr. Miguel Fern\u00e1ndez de Sanmamed<\/strong> of CIMA and Cl\u00ednica Universidad de Navarra.<\/p>\n\n

His project, \u201cNEO-nano IMPACT\u201d, focuses on developing a new intratumoural immunotherapy based on nanoparticles.<\/p>\n\n

Its aim is to strengthen neoadjuvant treatments in patients with lung cancer through an innovative precision strategy.<\/p>\n\n

Fundraising for the PRECISO Project<\/h2>\n\n

In addition to awarding fellowships and prizes, we will allocate the entire dinner fundraising total to the PRECISO Project<\/strong>, led by Dr. Santiago Ponce<\/strong> at Hospital 12 de Octubre.<\/p>\n\n

This programme enables more than 1,000 patients a year to access in-depth molecular diagnostics and innovative therapies, bringing precision medicine to those who need it most.<\/p>\n\n

FERO Gala Madrid: A Shared Purpose<\/h2>\n\n

The FERO Gala 2025<\/strong> reflects our purpose: to bring scientific advances to patients<\/strong> as quickly as possible, support the talent that is transforming the future of oncology, and bring society together in this shared effort. And as Dr. L\u00f3pez-Ot\u00edn<\/strong> noted in his speech, to highlight the need \u201cto understand in order to heal\u201d.<\/p>\n\n
