Why Is It Important to Invest in Oncology Research?
We know that 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will develop cancer during their lifetime. The only way to change these statistics is to continue researching—only then will we gain ground in the fight against cancer.
As Dr. Josep Tabernero, President of the FERO Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Committee, points out in an interview with the foundation, over the past 40 years oncology research has enabled the discovery of new treatments and diagnostic techniques that have improved cancer survival rates from 20% or 30% to nearly 65%. However, our main objective is to completely eradicate cancer as a cause of death.
To achieve this, we need to add more hours of research. Furthermore, thanks to the FERO Foundation’s translational oncology research approach, patients benefit from scientific advances more quickly.

In 2021, companies such as ISDIN, ghd, Mango, Veritas, Galanthya, Backstage BCN beauty salons, and Misako joined FERO to raise funds for oncology research.
Other notable collaborations included Steffi Mallebrein, who created charity t-shirts to raise funds for breast cancer research, and Carmina Barajas with her charitable painting exhibition.

FERO Foundation Events: Charity Dinners
FERO organizes charity events with the aim of raising funds. Taking advantage of the two annual FERO Grant ceremonies, the foundation organizes two charity dinners. The next charity dinner as part of the XXII FERO Grants ceremony will be held on Monday, May 16, at the MNAC in Barcelona. During the dinner, the FERO Translational Oncology Research Grants will be awarded to young researchers with the aim of promoting research and fostering young talent.
