In Memoriam Donation

In Memoriam Donation

An in memoriam donation. A way to honor those who are no longer with us.

Honoring the memory of a relative or friend with a donation to cancer research is one of the most meaningful ways to keep their memory alive.

If you have lost someone to cancer, an in memoriam donation to FERO Cancer turns that pain into science. Into research that can prevent other families from going through the same experience.

You can make an in memoriam donation individually or invite friends and family to join. FERO Cancer issues an in memoriam donation certificate that you can share with the family of the person being remembered.

The active projects that your support funds today.

Scientific research in oncology operates in three phases. Basic research studies the biological mechanisms of cancer: how it originates, how it grows, and how it spreads. Clinical research tests treatments in patients through controlled trials. Translational research connects the two: it takes laboratory findings and turns them into clinical hypotheses that can be tested in patients.

It is the most difficult link to fund. Public funds are concentrated on basic research. The pharmaceutical industry enters the clinical phase when success is already close. The space in between—where the first patient trials are designed, where biomarkers are selected, and where it is decided if a line of research is worth pursuing—is the space where FERO Cancer works.

This is the model that Dr. Josep Baselga founded in 2001 and that FERO Cancer has developed for 25 years.
