VII FERO-GHD Project

Dr. Ángel R. Nebreda

Institute for Research in Biomedicine Barcelona (IRB)
PROJECT
Study of chemotherapy resistance and metastasis mechanisms in triple-negative breast cancer.
GRANT AMOUNT
€80,000

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is one of the most aggressive subtypes, with high rates of relapse and metastasis development following chemotherapy treatment.

The VII FERO-GHD Grant project in breast cancer, led by Dr. Ángel R. Nebreda at IRB Barcelona, aims to understand the molecular mechanisms that cause treatment resistance and tumor dissemination in these patients.

To achieve this, the team will use an innovative cellular tracing tool in mouse models, together with an extensive set of transcriptomic data from TNBC patients, which will enable validation in humans of the findings obtained in the animal model.

The combination of in vivo experiments with advanced computational strategies will enable the identification of new therapeutic targets and biomarkers that, in the future, could pave the way for more effective and personalized treatments for patients with triple-negative breast cancer.
