A Date with Science at Barcelona’s Círculo Ecuestre
At our latest FERO Scientific Talk, we had the pleasure of listening to Dr. Laura Soucek, ICREA Professor – Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats, Director of the Experimental Therapeutics Program, and Head of the Antitumor Therapies Modeling Group at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), as well as co-founder of the biotechnology company Peptomyc.
If you missed it, you can watch it here.
A Career Guided by Perseverance
Dr. Laura Soucek shared her professional journey with us, from why she decided to dedicate herself to science to the creation of the company Peptomyc, including the development of a pioneering therapy potentially useful in all tumors, which few initially trusted.
A breakthrough with enormous potential that is opening new avenues for healing in this disease.
Science Advancing Against the Current
During her speech, she highlighted the importance of perseverance and of continuing to row against the current to ensure that science ultimately reaches the clinic in the form of a safe and effective medicine.
Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of collaboration among patients, foundations, academia, and biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
She also focused on the importance of:
- Supporting risky ideas.
- Funding young talent.
- And understanding that, for science to advance and bear fruit, time is required.

A Gathering to Continue Promoting Research
At Fundación Fero, we believe in the power of encounters between science, innovation, and society to continue advancing oncology research.
Many thanks to the Círculo Ecuestre de Barcelona and all attendees for joining us at this scientific event.
