18th FERO Grant – Dr. Antonia Tomas-Loba

18th FERO Grant

Dra. Antonia Tomas-Loba

Researcher at the University of Murcia
PROJECT
Circadian Rythm, Liver Cancer and beyond
GRANT AMOUNT
€80,000

The research aims to better understand the origin of liver cancer by investigating the molecular relationship between the disruption of circadian rhythms and the onset of liver cancer. Liver cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death worldwide, and its incidence is estimated to increase by 62% by 2040. The causes are closely related to our lifestyle and the constant disruption of natural cycles such as circadian rhythms (a disruption declared as a carcinogenic agent by the WHO and IARC).
