Metastasis in breast cancer is the leading cause of death from the disease, and it currently has no cure. The project led by Dr. Mariona Graupera aims to understand how cancer cells instruct the normal cells around them to work to their benefit. They will use sequencing techniques and 3D cellular mapping to identify secreted molecules. The project, kineMet, will study how blood vessels can facilitate breast cancer establishing itself in bone and will uncover new therapeutic targets.
