III FERO - MANGO Project (Breast Cancer)

Dr. Manel Juan i Otero

Researcher at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona/IDIBAPS
PROJECT
Developing a more personalized immunotherapy in breast cancer by tracking TcR of Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TILs)
GRANT AMOUNT
€80,000

The purpose of Dr. Juan’s project is to achieve personalized immunotherapy treatments that obtain better results and prevent patient relapse. The goal is to select more effective TILs: TILs (in-vivo expanded T cells) using their receptors (TCR), with the use of transduced T cells, to prevent disease recurrence. The aim is to combine the power of TILs with personalized T-cell engineering to increase the chances of success in breast cancer patients. In addition to the benefit for the patient involved, this patient’s specific T-cell products will be used to obtain naturally expanded TcRs that could be used in other HLA-compatible patients (with the same human leukocyte antigen) who, for some reason, cannot undergo tumor biopsy or surgery.
