XXVIII FERO Grant – Dr. Mate Maus
XXVIII FERO Grant
Dr. Mate Maus
Development of diagnostic methods for colon cancer in young people.
€80,000
Cases of colon cancer in young people are increasing, and detection usually occurs in advanced stages, making it more aggressive and difficult to treat.
The XXVIII FERO Grant project, to be carried out in the Aging and Cancer laboratory led by Dr. Mate Maus, focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms of aging, how these affect metabolism in the colon, and could be a cause of colon cancer formation.
To this end, researchers will analyze human samples and mouse models of colon cancer using sequencing techniques, transcriptomics, and molecular assays. With this, they hope to better understand the biology of colon cancer, especially that diagnosed in young people, to develop an effective detection method and thus be able to detect it as early as possible and even prevent it.
