Ways to Collaborate: New ‘ghd pink 2023’ Collection

To mark the 12th anniversary of the collaboration between ghd and the FERO Foundation, the hair styling tool brand is launching a new limited and charitable collection called ghd Pink 2023. This new collection is part of the ‘Take control now’ campaign, through which ghd will continue to raise funds to boost breast cancer research in Spain.

Through the FERO Foundation, €10 from each purchase of a product from the new ghd pink 2023 collection will be allocated to breast cancer oncology research.

ghd and the FERO Foundation

Ghd has been collaborating with the FERO Foundation since 2011 and has raised over €1.5 million for translational oncology research projects. These funds have supported new researchers in establishing their laboratories by financing five FERO-ghd breast cancer research projects, ‘Start-up Grants’, and part of the Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Program (DIAMAV) at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO).

Additionally, it has enabled the funding of more than 10 projects at VHIO with different approaches to better understand the disease. This has facilitated the creation of an excellent infrastructure in Spain to conduct research with greater impact and help more breast cancer patients.

FERO-ghd breast cancer research projects funded to date:

I FERO – ghd PROJECT

Project led by Dr. Violeta Serra and Dr. Judith Balmaña at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO). Its objective is to verify whether liquid biopsy is useful for optimizing a test that identifies the most sensitive tumors and monitors treatment response in breast cancer patients carrying a BRCA1/2 gene mutation.

II FERO – ghd PROJECT

Project led by Dr. Cristina Saura and Dr. Miriam Sansó, researchers at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) and the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute Foundation (IdiSBa). Its aim is to validate the use of breast milk for the early detection of pregnancy-associated breast cancer to improve its current prognosis.

III FERO – ghd PROJECT

Project led by Dr. Verónica Rodilla, from the Josep Carreras Research Institute. Its objective is to identify reliable biomarkers for three types of mammary epithelial cells, so that, based on this, more patients can be considered ‘eligible’ for targeted therapies.

IV FERO – ghd PROJECT

Project led by Dr. José Antonio Seoane at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO). It seeks to characterize epigenetic profiles to predict relapse after hormonal treatment in breast cancer.

V FERO – ghd PROJECT

Project led by Dr. Mariona Graupera, from the Josep Carreras Institute in Barcelona. Its objective is to understand how cancer cells instruct normal cells around them to work to their benefit and to discover new therapeutic targets.

‘Take control now’ Campaign

The new ghd collection, in collaboration with the FERO Foundation, is presented under the name ‘Take control now’, a claim that serves to remind us of the importance of breast self-examination to prevent breast cancer and/or detect it at an early stage. You can see how to self-examine step-by-step, here.

To further raise awareness about the importance of self-examination for early diagnosis, the real story of Becksy Silverwood, a professional dancer who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 29, is explained.

Thanks to brands like ghd, today we are closer to the eradication of breast cancer. If you also want to collaborate in this cause, join the campaign and purchase one of the products from the ghd pink 2023 collection. Alternatively, you can also help the FERO Foundation directly; discover how to do so at: https://ferocancer.org/como-colaborar/. Together we can end cancer, collaborate!

ghd pink 2023 Collection

The new tools in this limited edition feature a soft peach pink hue and are stamped with the campaign claim ‘Take control now’ to remind us of its purpose: the importance of regular self-examination. The collection consists of the professional hair dryer ghd helios, the award-winning ghd platinum+ styler, the ghd gold styler, the electric brush ghd glide, and, for the first time, its renowned limited edition cordless styler, ghd unplugged.

If you wish to collaborate with the FERO Foundation through any of the mentioned proposals, please contact us at fero@fero.org and we will help you make it happen.
