Dr. Baselga had the absolute conviction that we would eradicate cancer as a cause of death. Today, his vision is shared by the entire FERO Foundation community, and we want to show it to society through the #WithConvictionFERO communication campaign.

Last May, the FERO Foundation launched a communication campaign centered on the concept of conviction, aimed at conveying and communicating the spirit of all members of the organization. A spirit necessary to go far, because one can live without conviction, but one cannot fight for a cause without believing in it.
The campaign consists of various publications on the organization’s social media, including a manifesto and different audiovisual and static pieces. We involved various FERO Grant winners in the campaign, asking them about their convictions in their work. Subsequently, we extended the initiative to the rest of the FERO community, even reaching renowned public figures, whom we asked why they had the conviction that research was the path to curing cancer.

Dr. Jon Zugazagoitia Fraile, winner of the XXIV FERO Grant.
“I treat lung cancer patients every day and I see the medical need that exists to make immunotherapy and the treatments we use today benefit a greater proportion of patients. Our project is oriented toward achieving this, and I have the conviction that we will obtain results that will translate into new therapies for patients in the future.”

“Our project seeks to identify biomarkers of resistance to immunotherapy treatment. We are convinced that, through this analysis in more than 600 patients, we will be able to identify these alterations of resistance to treatment.”

“We are going to study the cells that accompany the tumor in the metastatic process, and by studying them, we believe we will find solutions to prevent the growth of metastasis. We are approaching it from a new perspective that has not been addressed until now, and I believe this will provide new solutions that could not be proposed before.”

“The only way to cure diseases is by understanding them, and that is why we need researchers who are at every step, at every link in the chain that treatment follows, in the management of the disease, of the patient.”
